Balearic islands 'retain individual culture' |
People on villa holidays in Mallorca and other Balearic islands will notice, if they visit the right areas, that certain destinations retain a unique appeal despite the islands' popularity in the mainstream tourism industry, it has been claimed.
Paul Bradley, a spokesman for the Spanish Property Owners Guild, admitted that some tourism hotspots have become somewhat homogeneous but said there is much more to be discovered in the islands' less central areas.
"In the resorts, you could be anywhere in the world," he said. "But in the original towns and villages each island has its own culture, cuisine, architecture
even language."
Mr Bradley claimed that each of the Balearic islands has "its own unique market", with people staying in Mallorca villas able to enjoy beaches, coves, sailing trips and "dramatic mountain landscapes".
He said that the popular resorts found on the island of Mallorca make it as interesting a prospect to investors as it is to tourists.
"There are
many popular beach resorts for the masses, so a good rental income can be expected in summer months for rental apartments and villas near to these," Mr Bradley commented.
Mallorca is the largest of the Balearic islands. The other bodies of land that comprise the Mediterranean archipelago are Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera.
