Discover Ottone Rosai in Florence |
Art lovers enjoying villas holidays in Tuscany this month may be interested in an exhibition of the work of Italian artist Ottone Rosai.
The Florentine painter was seen as one of the most significant Italian artists of the 20th century.
Florence's Palazzo Medici Riccardi will pay tribute to the artist with an exhibition that will run until March 25th.
The display will incorporate 50 of Rosai's paintings, which have been acquired from both public and private collections, covering his period of work from 1910 to 1950.
A range of different pieces will comprise the exhibition, from nudes, portraits and still lives to monuments, street scenes and interiors, all imbued with Rosai's distinctive style.
One of the paintings in the collection, Vallesina, was painted in 1916 while Rosai was fighting in the First World War.
Tickets for the exhibition, which is open every day except Wednesday, will entitle the holder to visit the Benozzo Gozzoli chapel, the Luca Giordano hall and the Museum of the Marbles.
