Florence looks at Giotto di Bondone |
Art enthusiasts on villa holidays in Florence this summer can visit the Galleria degli Uffizi as it hosts an exhibition investigating the legacy of Giotto di Bondone.
The artist, who is better known simply as Giotto, was an influential painter and architect who is now recognised as the first of a number of figures who played an important part in the Italian Renaissance.
Giotto has been recognised and studied for the influence he had on the artistic visions that developed through the 13th and 14th centuries.
When Giotto died, in 1336, the era following his death was considered a fairly unproductive time for art and culture, which was marked by the devastating plague of 1438.
Recently, however, art critics have shown more interest in art that emerged in the late 1300s and early 15th century.
The Palazzo degli Uffizi exhibition looks at the artistic trends and developments of this era and delves into a period that is unfamiliar to many art lovers.
People on villa holidays in Tuscany will find the display at this gallery from June 10th until November 2nd.
