Florence to explore Chinese Renaissance |
Art lovers staying in Tuscany villas this year will be able to expand their knowledge of the 'Chinese Renaissance' at an exhibition in Florence.
The display at the Palazzo Strozzi will feature refined paintings and precious objects dating from between 25 and 907 AD.
It will explore a relatively unknown side of China in ancient times, featuring images of powerful women riding horses, cosmopolitan figures and influences from international schools of thought.
Sabrina Rastelli, curator of the exhibition, said: "Even those who know nothing about Chinese history and culture will be fascinated by the works on show.
"Starting with the great 2.4-metre-high statue of Buddha that welcomes visitors; or with the mural paintings - rather different from frescoes - which are extremely precious because only very few of them were found and they are hardly ever transferred abroad due to their extreme fragility."
The exhibition will be available for visitors to explore until June 8th this year.
