Regatta sails into waters of Mallorca |
Fans of sailing and all things associated with it will be in their element in Mallorca this summer as the island hosts a traditional regatta.
The Almirante Conde de Barcelona Trophy regatta, which is organised by the Hispania Foundation, is held in the waters of Palma de Mallorca bay.
People staying in Mallorca villas will be able to see boats compete in a number of different categories, including period vessels (launched before the end of 1949) and classic (launched between 1950 and 1975).
Replica boats will also be able to participate, as long as they were constructed following the plans and techniques of the original vessels.
Holidaymakers interested in seeing this spectacle take to the waters of Mallorca should head to Palma, the island's capital city, between August 11th and 17th.
Mallorca is the largest of Spain's islands and attracts millions of foreign visitors every year, partly as a result of its natural landscape and attractions such as Bellver Castle and La Seu cathedral.
