Younger travellers 'more willing to fly budget'
Younger travellers on villa holidays and other trips are more willing to save money by flying with low-cost carriers than their older counterparts, a magazine editor has claimed.

According to Alyson Cook, editor of Luxury Travel magazine, air travel preferences are often related to the age of the customer.

She suggested that many young people are happy to save money on their flight if it means they can spend more on accommodation and entertainment at their destination.

"The younger traveller, who has grown up with low-cost carriers, is quite happy to make a journey to Stansted or Luton or any other small airport and get a low-cost carrier, and save their money for spending when they are actually at the destination," Ms Cook said.

"The older generation will still favour the traditional scheduled carriers."

Research by the International Luxury Travel Market found that the sector enjoyed growth in 2007 and now attracts 25 million arrivals every year.
